We are doing COVID PCR testing as well as antibodies for disease and immunity at our Century Medical, PC, in Peabody. PCR Test is considered the “gold standard” in SARS-Cov-2 detection, with 99.9% accuracy. This test detects RNA (or genetic material) with high sensitivity and specificity, making it the most accurate test on the market. Both PCR test and Antibody test are simple finger-prick tests that give you the results very quickly.
We can do it for asymptomatic patients for different purposes as travel (most international destinations now require proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test before boarding), work, or school required (not for sick people or people with symptoms). Our patients can use insurance or cash pay depends on the reason.
PCR Test Vs. Antibody Test
PCR test shows you if you have a current infection. This test detects genetic material inside a virus. It’s a highly sensitive and specific test that runs through multiple amplification cycles.
Antibody test tells you if you had a past infection. If you have antibodies, you won’t require the vaccine. It also means you are not at risk of infection, so you are free to travel.
What are the different COVID antibodies that are measured?
COVID IgG: this is more useful after a COVID infection and not always indicative of immunity after a vaccine.
Anti-S (spike) antibodies: this is a better measure of immunity following a vaccine and maybe high despite a normal IgG level.
Neutralizing antibodies: this is the percentage of Anti-S antibodies that neutralizes the virus and protects from infection (anything above 30% is 'positive')
Antibody levels should be measured 2 to 3 weeks after the second dose of the vaccine, at the earliest, and repeated a few weeks later to check whether the level is rising.
Test yourself repeatedly, stay on top of it with our help and guidance. You can book your PCR COVID-19 Test as well as Antibody Test ONLINE.
