COVID-19 Vaccination Required for Immigration Medical Examinations

As you know, we are performing Immigration Medical Exams at Century Medical PC in Peabody, MA, for anyone applying for adjustment of status or permanent residence in the United States. This is a necessary step in the Green Card application process. Our Immigration Medical Exams are affordable by an authorized USCIS provider, Dr. Katz, M. D.

All Green Card applicants already are required to have proof of certain vaccinations when attending the I-693 Medical Exam. Vaccination against vaccine-preventable diseases has been required by federal law since 1996 for every immigrant who is looking for adjustment of status and legal permanent residency. But now we have one more important requirement. The COVID-19 vaccine joins the list of other vaccines (including, among others, measles, mumps, polio, tetanus, and diphtheria) that have long been necessary for immigration. Green Card applicants will now need to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to immigrate to the United States. This new policy goes into effect on Oct. 1. 2021

The CDC now classifies COVID-19 as a “Class A inadmissible condition”. Based on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) guidelines, “the applicant must complete the COVID-19 vaccine series and provide documentation of vaccination to the civil surgeon in person before completion of the medical examination.”
